What's In Your Neighborhood?

This is great... Only if Florida can we find a palm tree thriving in the mist of old oak trees! I am telling you, the city of Jacksonville did an awesome job with this park. It has soccer field, trails, bike baths, walking paths, playground equipment, picnic tables, fields- everything you could want in a park. And,,,, did I mention clean restrooms? People who don't live where it is warm year round will be so jealous of this wonderful outside opportunity you have!

I did not know that Briley could shimmy to the top of the pole! Every time we visit Losco Park we ALWAYS run into students from Beauclerc! Today was no exception! They are always shocked to see Mrs. Rowan outside of school..... I mean really.... Do they think all teachers only go to school?????

You have to go to LOSCO Park! They have the best trees! Some of them are even swings!
After a great picnic at the park, we headed to the library (only to return books!) and then to Mrs. Rowan's all time favorite store ...... Publix to pick-up a few items!
Again, we are having a blast playing outside and enjoying our time off! Tomorrow I think we will head to the downtown library and then maybe walk over to the Landing for lunch! We'll see... it depends if the rain is a slight drizzle or a massive downpour!
Who lives in your neighborhood? Well in both Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon's neighborhood many of you do as well as more Beauclerc teachers and PRINCIPALS! Today, while driving home from the redbox we passed Mrs. Hartless! I wonder who else we will see this week?
Can't wait to show you more great pictures around Jacksonville tomorrow!

A little taste of Spring..... BREAK!

Not sure who is more excited to be on Spring Break..... Stitch or Mrs. Rowan and her girls! Either way we are having a grand 'ol time working around the yard! A little bit of gardening to ease the soul!

What are you guys doing on Spring Break? I hope you are enjoying your time off! Remember you can post comments about Science Fair stuff! Mrs. Rowan buys her tomatoes Wednesday! I can't wait!
I also finished my 2nd book today! I am really enjoying this new author - Phillip Gulley. That is why I love the library.... there are so many hidden treasures on those shelves! It is like a big treasure hunt, and for Mrs. Rowan pleasure reading is all about the book covers!!!!
Oh, and a little bit of sad news ..... Louisville (men) LOST big time yesterday so they will not make a showing in the Final Four...If anybody saw that game, who showed up to play again! But the Louisville Girl's team have secured their spot in the FINAL FOUR!!!!! We are still excited!
Enjoy your Monday... see you Tuesday with another picture post!

We are so proud of our very own Stewie! His picture (below) is posted in a student art gallery at the Downtown Main Library! If you get a chance head down! Mrs. Rowan, Macey, and Briley went Saturday and you will not believe the talented artists we have in Jacksonville Public Schools! It was incredible to look at all the talent!
Wow! We have made it to Spring Break! We are all very happy! Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon had a great lunch Friday and we also cleaned for about 5 minutes! We were ready for Spring Break! Brittany and Lauren at Cultural Arts.

This was really neat! We had a hot air balloon that Mrs. Yadon won a trip up in!

It stretched up! Mrs. Yadon has some pictures that will show her view from looking down!

We Love To See You Smile and 100%

MCDONALDS will be here for lunch tomorrow!

We are very excited about our lunch tomorrow from McDonalds. Lunch will be delivered at our normal lunch time, and if it is nice outside we will eat in the picnic area!

We also were able to enjoy a frozen treat at lunch today because we were 100% with stuffed animals. Mrs. Yadon brought pink bunny which was her childhood baby, and Mrs. Rowan brought Humpty Dumpty who was her childhood baby! Let's just say you could tell they were really old!

Tomorrow students will leave for spring break! Enjoy this time off- we are lucky that we are having good weather!

What do we need - TEAMWORK!

Wow! Wasn't Playday great fun last week! We did such a great job as a group. Everyone was having fun, and playing together! Coach Scott and Coach Streeter did an awesome job for us!

The good news.... Coach Scott said she was also arrange a beatball tournament for us in May! That will be a lot of fun as well! Last year our class played so well together. We will need to start practicing after Spring Break.
Don't forget your towel for Cultural Arts today! We have quite a few activities scheduled and we will be eating outside!

Absolutley the BEST time of the YEAR!

Well, as Mr. Rowan would say...... this is without a doubt the "greatest" sporting event in all of sports! Of course, we have been hearing this for about 20 years now... and we continue to have late night games and the DVR never stops!
We can only hope that our CARDS do something this year! It will be stressful around here the next few days! Go CARDS!

Aside from that, we are trying to get back into our normal routines before Spring Break, but we are finding it hard with all of our school activities. Today, we have a percussion program that was really great! Mrs. Laymon does a great job of exposing our students to music!
Next week will also be really busy with Cultural Arts (Tuesday), the Early Release Day (Wednesday), and our McDonald's lunch Thursday! Remember, Friday is a holiday in observance of Mrs. Yadon's birthday.... IN FACT... this year they went ahead and gave you the whole next week off too! You just don't know how lucky you are to have such FABULOUS teachers!
Don't forget the $3.00 for McDonalds and the $40.00 for the end of the year trip.
We also would like to celebrate that ALL of our students AGAIN met their 25 Book reading goal... we are 3 for 3 with our goals. Next week we will get a special treat at Cultural Arts for meeting that goal!
When we come back from Spring Break we will DIVE INTO our Science Fair projects. In class we have been talking about the difference between a demonstration and an actual project. We are looking for a project that demonstrates the Scientific Process! We have some great ideas already. Each student will create their own display board based on the results of their project and data. Display boards will be on sale after Spring Break for $3.00.
See you in the morning!

"HOLLA" and a Sea of green!

Here we are.... The FINAL day of 5th grade FCAT testing! Actually this looks like the seating arrangement for my entire elementary career! We were ready, and the students felt really, really G-R-E-A-T about the test today!
Here is our "Holla" in the next two pictures! We were so excited to be D-O-N-E, Finished, Complete! Not because we were not superior test takers, full of confidence and right answers! Not to mention full of great breakfast foods every morning.......

But really.... we want our old space back! To be able to be by our friends and "Let the Sunshine IN!"

We got right to work too! There is only 10 weeks left of school (and three of those are 4 day weeks, not to mention all the early release days yet to come!)
So, we are busy working to finish many projects before Spring Break arrives (next Friday!)
We have to finish - our poetry notebooks and our inventor reports!
Here we are getting ready to go to lunch..... Hey what's with all that green you ask?

And this green?

Well Room 138 fully supported St. Patrick's Day! Hats, shirts, shoes, pants... you name it, it could be found in Room 138!

We totally surpassed the standard for "dressing GREEN!"
Angel and Dalton were so festive today! They were "kickin" the green! .....
The next big news to come is.......
............................... Science Fair!
We will start this process after Spring Break. We will discuss the difference between a demonstration and an actual Science Fair Project. We are looking for Projects. All year we have been working with the Scientific Process, so students should be very comfortable with this process. We will start our own classroom project when we return from Spring Break, however, students will be responsible for their own projects.
Cookie Dough is delivered Thursday! See you in the Media Center.....
