Students were working hard to create their first Social Studies Presentations. All year, students will be responsible for presenting SS lessons to the class in groups. Parents, Sign the agenda!

Dear Parents,
At Beauclerc ES, students are expected to read 30 minutes each night or 2.5 hours during the week. This year we are again requiring students to log their nightly reading in their planner. Your signature is our acknowledgement that your student read, and there is some discussion about what they are reading. Students can read books, magazines, comics, etc. to meet this challenge.
In addition to nightly reading, important things are written in that planner daily. Homework, assignments, upcoming tests, projects, etc. If your child's planner is blank-- well that should be a major concern.
We hope this helps set the beginning of the year expectations, and we look forward to seeing you at Open House tomorrow at 6:30.

Baseballs Never Been Hotter than the JACKSONVILLE SUNS!

A former Sunday School Student, and current Beauclerc Student.. The Amazing Andy provided entertainment during the rain!

The biggest slip-n-slide I have ever seen then appeared right in front of my eyes! Doesn't it look fun!

Swing Batter!

What an afternoon for baseball! Mrs. Rowan's Sunday School class went in style in a sky box to watch one of the last home games of the Jacksonville Suns! Notice the big black cloud?

See you in the morning! It may be a wet one!

Dark Skies Still Fill the Air!

Well, as it happens today the rain is still falling, the skies are still gray, but almost all of the yard clean-up between Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon's houses are complete! Way to go Rowan and Yadon men!

Two very important things to remember-
1. Open House is Tuesday night- We know it is soon, but a very important night to learn about our classroom, expectations, and procedures. It is also a night you do not want to miss! There is a lot of material that we cover that will help you and your parents get through the year! We do encourage students to come with their parents- It is critical that everyone hears the same message.
2. Fall pictures were scheduled for Monday. We are moving with that schedule, so make sure you dress for pictures on Monday. If that changes, we will post the reschedule date.
We hope all of you have rested, relaxed, and read during your time off. We will begin Day 3 on Monday. By the way.... did anybody ever figure out what the Pumpkin Box was?

OPEN HOUSE is Tuesday, August 26 !!!!!

That's a pine tree covered in vines that crashed through the fence.

Anyone want to go for a dip?

Oh well, Mrs. Yadon (or should I say Mr. Yadon and Andrew) will be very busy on Saturday cleaning up!

What do Big Dogs do when it rains?

Finally a chance to get outside!

Lilo waits for us to let her outside, she LOVES the rain!

Stitch just looks outside, because he hates the rain!

I hope you are finding fun things to do during the storm! We lost power yesterday for a few hours, but it came back on in about 2 hours.
Things to do during the storm....
1. Read a good book
2. Clean your room
3. Clean a bathroom
4. Dust
5. Take a GREAT Nap!

Well, Mr. Rowan will have some work to do!

At first, we just had random small limbs flying about....

Then, the big winds came and Mr. Rowan will get a chance to use the chain saw (the big man toys!) to cut this limb up. Hopefully they will continue to fall in the yard and not on our SUV's or the house!

No School Friday!

Fay's winds, rain increasing up the First Coast; Duval and all other regional public schools closed Friday

That latest news from Mayor Peyton is that schools will be closed on Friday. I believe that we will still have school pictures on Monday so make sure you wear what you want to be in the yearbook :-)!
I will post some pictures later today!

What did your day look like?

All in all it was a great day! Very mild weather, and a great cool breeze. If you have not returned your back to school packet, please bring that with you on Friday. Also, remember to cut the pages out of the Code of Conduct book for internet permission. See you Friday as of now!

We had friends over to play!

We watched the rain come and go!

It's Official!

Due to hurricane Fay we will not have school on Wednesday and Thursday. We will provide an update as soon as I hear regarding Friday! Stay calm, relax, spend some quality time with your family (POST ON OUR BLOG!!!), and read some for your 25 Book Goal. Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon will be busy working to create some plans, plus we will have time to review the economy system that we will start on Monday.
Maybe in your spare time you can work on your application for employment- Here are some examples of classroom jobs: Bankers, Teacher Assistants, CHAMPS / Cafeteria Patrol, Police Officers, Custodians, Homework Officers, Attendance and Messengers, Equipment Managers, Librarians, Clerks, and AR Monitors just to name a few.

See you soon!

What a Great Community!

Well it is taking longer than expected to find a student Blog editor. The internet in our building has been down since pre-planning and we are still not receiving service. Until them, we will continue to update our BLOG from home.

The students had a great day today. In Social Studies we talked about communities and working together and each of our five tables created table flags.

We also finished our name tags, and those are attached as well.

We will be in school tomorrow as it appears the tropical storm is no longer a threat just yet.

Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon are having so much fun with our class, we are learning and growing each day together!

We need 12 memberships to reach our 100% by Friday- so IF you HAVE NOT joined PTA, please consider joining by Friday. We are trying to win a pizza party!

A Great First Day!

The first day of something new can sometimes always be the hardest, however today was an AWESOME day for both students and your teachers! We managed to get through all of our lessons, and the rain held off so we could go outside with other 5th Grade Friends at 2:00.
This is going to be a GREAT year! See you in the morning!

Students had a great time making their name plates. You may view our creations at Open House next Thursday.

What a Great Orientation!

It was so good to meet and speak with you today. We are just as excited about starting the year with you. We have a great class with students who are not only new to Beauclerc, but new to Jacksonville, Florida.
Remember when you arrive on campus Monday morning come to the room, and we will help you start your day.
We will start working day 1, so try and get plenty of rest Sunday night.

Looking forward to a great year of learning.

We are ready to Meet YOU!

What a long first day back! The teachers around Beauclerc are certainly working hard to get their rooms ready for students! Mrs. Yadon, Mrs. Plish (a new teacher), and Mrs. Rowan worked really hard today in our room. We think you guys are going to love it! When you come in on Friday you will be able to pick your seat (we have 2 girl tables and 2 boy tables) and look through some of your materials. We were so busy we forgot to take our picture to post, so I took a few before I left tonight!

Make sure you read through all the Posts!

Wow! It is hard to believe we have been playing around on this Blog waiting for you to come and visit! We have undergone several make-overs, a few design changes, some song additions, and just adding random things as they were thought of. Be sure to check out the pictures we post this week!
Also, we would like you to introduce yourself- Tell us a few things you would like us to know about you, maybe your favorite subjects, brothers and sisters, favorite things and outside activities (any dancers or ball players in the group?). As we all began to post we can read through the comments and get to know each other!
Your supply list will be included in your Welcome Letter, and we will post that list to the Blog on Monday.
I'll comment first, and we will see who comments next!

PS.- We are looking for some Blogmasters to keep the site updated, so let us know your thoughts on that as well!

Please join PTA!

At orientation, please bring your $5.00 for PTA! We would again like to be first to make 100% for PTA Membership!

So... Summer is almost over...

Well it has been a short, but very busy summer for Mrs. Rowan and Mrs. Yadon-
Mrs. Rowan has been out of town almost the entire month of July- First at Gatlinburg, then back for a week of Music Camp, then off to Camp Warren Willis (where I spent a fantastic week with middle school campers), then off to Disney for a week of school (The Doctor of Education is almost here!)

Mrs. Yadon has been just as busy with her annual trip to the beach on the West Coast, a trip to Black Mountain, more trips to the beach house (notice that fantastic tan!), and then to Naples. Pretty soon she will be heading to Tallahassee to drop her youngest son off at college for his second year!

While we are sad to see the summer end, we are extremely excited about the new Reading Series. We attended training a few weeks ago, and we are excited to share this new program with you! We also attended a 2 day Science workshop the same week, and we again learned some fun things to do!

We are currently looking for 3 of the large water containers (the kind you put on coolers from home delivery service). If you have any laying around (-: we can use them the first week of school.

We are excited to see you, and will let you know when orientation will be! Remember school starts August 18th!
