So, did they really believe us?

Imagine being 10 again, and hearing that you were going to make a solar cooker out of a Pringles can? Would you believe it? Our students have been working on their solar cooker this week to design a model that would attract the most heat (see the thermometer) and cook the marshmallow the fastest. Well, let's just say.... We WERE RIGHT!
No experiment is complete without the Scientific Process! Nahjani works to complete the process. First, we designed our cookers, then we made predictions, and then we assembled them with our marshmallow. During the cooking students recorded observations and temperature on their lab sheets.
Tony, Morgan, and Tyree getting ready to start!
The sun was so bright today they had to "shield" their eyes to see me!
Solar oven (check), skewer (check), marshmallow (check), lid (check)! Seven is ready to watch the sun's energy-- Maddie is busy checking the internal temperature of her solar oven. They are almost ready!
Emily and Klaudia getting ready to enjoy their S'mores
Zelma, the master cooker gets ready to feast on her efforts!

Finger, licking good! Some students just sat in the grass and enjoyed the sun's warmth!

The ultimate prize! This looks so good! Maybe we should audition for Food TV editors and photographers!

This would be a great family activity! And if the sun is not out, well try other forms of heat energy!
