Gas, Bubbles, Temperature ....

That is what a chemical reaction is ALL about!
Seven gets ready to drop in the alkaseltzer in 50 ml of water. Tony is ready to take the temperature. Cinnamon is taking the temperature while Lakia, Crystal, Allison, and Ayanna look on.

Jason is timing the "minute" for the group while Sam and Stewie see if there is any temperature change.

Prince, Calvin, and Tyree watch to see if they can record a temperature change.

Daniel, our lab manager, getting supplies ready to pass out.

Mario, another lab manager, getting the remaining supplies ready.

This was so much fun! The students just oohed and aahhed over the bubbles!

Maddie's part-time job

It was great to see everybody at the Baymeadows Community Church Saturday for the Fall Festival! Maddie took Briley around on the pony! Mrs. Yadon took lots of Beauclerc students for rides as well!

Odds and Ins

We think we will finally have internet access in our room this month! Woo-hoo because then our editors will take over some of the BLOG responsibility.

Living Museum packets came home yesterday. Please send in your $3.00 for your backboard as soon as possible.

Wednesday is an Early Release Day - make sure you know how you are getting home.

Today (Tuesday) will be Science lab day (finishing up chemical changes). Be sure to ask students about cool experiments they created today.

All students need 7 books read and logged by October 23, 2008.

The REVEAL is IN!!!

For the last three weeks our class has been studying the early American people and how they used the land to make a living. Our students used many different reference materials to locate information on their select tribe. As a class we developed a list of essential questions to guide our research, and then worked in small groups to develop solid reports. After the reports were completed and the information was clear, our students created dioramas to display their information! This was hands on learning at its best.

As you can see by the smiles and the amazing dioramas this project was a huge SUCCESS!

Nahjani and Calvin, the Pawnee tribe
Ayanna and Alexandria, the Apache tribe

Dante and Morgan, the Comanche tribe

Maddie and Lakia, the Cheyenne tribe

Lauren, Crystal, and Brittney, the Ute tribe
Klaudia and Zelma, the Narragansett tribe
Mario and Eduardo, the Pueblo tribe
Angel and Misty, the Huron tribe
Emily and Allison, the Chickasaw tribe
Daniel and Jason (The Gator Boys), the Inuit tribe
Cinnamon and Jasmine, the Seminole tribe Tyree and Dalton, the Ottawa Tribe

Boris and Stewie, the Creek Tribe

Tony and Prince, the Cahuilla Tribe
Our students did an awesome job with this project! The days were sometimes chaotic, but the outcome of the collaboration was amazing. And the reports, well let's just say we are very well versed in the report writing standard.

We learned so much today about the different tribes and how they used the land to live! In almost every presentation groups pointed out that Native Americans had no waste- they used every bit of everything they had.
As we wrapped this unit up today, we are now moving into the Silk Trade Routes and the early explorers.

Welcome Seven and Brittney!

The 2 newest members of our Class! - We are now up to 32 students + 2 teachers.
Brittney is from San Jose Elementary (just around the corner) and Seven is from Tallahassee! (Although NOT a Seminole fan!)
***note from the editor: This is still NOT the REVEAL!

I Know You are waiting!

No friends, the background change is not the big REVEAL planned for this weekend! Sorry! It will assist in the big reveal, but it is NOT the big reveal!

We will put the REVEAL out tonight. I have a friend coming over to help finish up one of our big papers this term. So, when the work is through, the REVEAL will be REVEALED!

By the way class, we had a great time at the auction this afternoon! We both laughed after you left at how excited you were to buy your items! Some of you showed great restraint and kept all your money! We know you will be at the pizza party in November! Remember it is $2,100.00 to attend, and you will only have your October paycheck (plus bonus money) before the big event. The date is November 10th, the make-up weather day.

Have a great weekend and remember Baymeadows Community Church (the church on the corner of Craven and Baymeadows) is having their Fall Festival tomorrow from 10-2. It should be a fun time! Maybe we will see you there!

Pride is in the AIR!

We even saw Briley, Mrs. Rowan's daughter, enjoying the festivities! She would not look at us, but we took her picture anyway! Mrs. West welcomes the kids! It's October 1st... Do you know what that means?
And Chuck E Cheese even came out to greet the students! Sell 20 items in the fundraiser and you can ride in a limo to see him!
Great friends, and a great class! Our other members are participating in chorus and patrols!

We had a great Flag Salute today! It didn't hurt that those wearing Red, White, and Blue received $300.00 in bonus money! It was great to see all our friends out and share in some GREAT school spirit!
Today in class we worked on writing good responses to questions. We shared our answers on the Elmo as other students told us what would make the answer even stronger! It is not just copying out of the book, but answering the question providing details and relevant information.
******Make sure you check the BLOG this weekend for the BIG REVEAL ******** You will be in awe at what we have to show!!!!!
