End of Nine Weeks - 10/23

It is hard to believe that the first 9 weeks is almost over! We take our formative math test Monday on Building on Numbers You Know. We will start with Name that Portion on Tuesday. From the curriculum writers of Name That Portion "Fractions, percents, and decimals have traditionally been taught as separate topics, each with its own rules and procedures for calculation. This unit instead emphasizes similarities and connections between these ideas. Students come to see percents, fractions, and decimals as different ways to represent the same number" This unit will carry us almost to the Winter Break.

Hopefully you have worked with your student on picking a famous person for the Live Wax Museum- We will start putting that together this week. We have already modeled a few! Remember students will need to dress like the person they select!

This week we will take 2 weeks to cover our new story. The first week will focus on Spelling and Grammar, and the second week will focus on Vocabulary and Comprehension.

We will also start our Energy unit in Science this week- So, it looks like it is a week of MANY new things!

We think we will have our Internet back in the classroom by the end of the month, so we may get our student editors to work after all!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend! We do have school Monday!- Students will be out for Teacher Planning Day - Friday, November 24th.
